Thank you California Raisins for sponsoring this post. California Raisins are the perfectly natural, and naturally sweet back-to-school snack!
Last week the boys and I attended a #SnacktoSchool #LoveYourRaisins event sponsored by California Raisins and Massive Sway. It was a super fun gathering of many local Sacramento bloggers and their children. The focus of the gathering was to learn more about California Raisins, encourage our children to enjoy healthy after school snacks, and networking with other bloggers (and the children with each other).
When we arrived, we took turns learning more about California Raisins at each station. We made healthy snacks as we learned that California Raisins come by their sweetness naturally – with zero fat, no cholesterol and no added sugar! Plus raisins offer 9% of your daily fiber and potassium! Tastes good and is good for you. Winning!
The boys got creative when they made a healthy afterschool snack using apples, raisins and peanut butter. I tried to take a photo of their creation, but they ate it so quickly. I think they liked it.
Did you know that a study suggests that eating raisins as an after-school snack may prevent excessive calorie intake and may increase satiety (feeling full) when compared to other common snacks?!
I think the favorite station was the make your own trail mix bar. All the kids liked this station (not just my own). California Raisins are a great snack choice because they are convenient and portable. They are a great choice for wholesome, healthy, on-the-go snacking.
When the boys were not eating (which was rare), they enjoyed hanging outside doing crafts with their peers. They colored coloring pages of The California Raisins as well as got crafty with stickers.
They even had a photo booth where the boys (and I) were able to get creative and share our silly side. I must admit, the boys had the most fun coming up with clever creations for this station.
My boys are always eating. As their mom, it is my job to make sure that the food that they are eating is healthy and beneficial to their growth and development.
I am thankful that my boys love raisins and have a desire to eat healthy good-for-you foods. This makes my job a little easier. I found a bunch of great healthy after school snack recipes from across the web and want to share with you. Check them out, you might find a few new favorite to snack on with your kiddos!

This took me back….way back…with all the talk about California Raisins. All I could think about were the little McDonalds toys and the movies. Then I saw the plush toy as part of the give away and that sealed the deal. Thanks Rachel!!!

Afternoon snacks are so important for keeping your blood sugar levels even, I think – for adults too, or at least me. 😉 I love raisins – sometimes I just throw them into yogurt for a quick snack.

We use a ton of sunbutter in our house. We have one child with a severe peanut/tree nut allergy and sunbutter is our only option. We also make seasoned popcorn often.
