There is something about reading good books, watching fun movies, and eating junk food that solo parenting brings out of me. My husband is out of town on business, and the boys and I have been enjoying the good life of new books, movies and left over Easter candy. Oh boy. Whoever said parenting was boring!?
Here are three faith based children’s books that we have been reading lately. These books have a fantastic moral lesson, value and entertaining story for my boys. Zondervan provided me with a free copy of first two books for reviewing purposes. I received the Bedtime Story book for sole purpose of review as a BookLook Blogger.
The Berenstain Bears Keep the Faith by Mike Berenstain
Brother and Sister Bear’s friend Ferdy Factual loves science. Brother and Sister like science too. When Ferdy tells Brother and Sister he doesn’t believe God created the world, the bear cubs don’t know what to think. They begin to question and dig deep into what it really means to have “faith” in something you can’t see.
Keep the Faith is a great book to introduce and facilitate a discussion with your young children what to do when they encounter someone who believes differently then they do. It gives Biblical facts in story form as well as a questions and activity page at the back of the book.
This book was a good reminder to me to help our children understand that not everyone believes the same way or the same things as we do.
Whatever You Grow Up to Be by Karen Kingsbury
This is a super cute and colorful book for young children, written by one of my personal favorite authors. Whatever You Grow Up to Be is a timeless journey of a mother and son that is captured in the story of a boy’s growth from childhood to fatherhood. From birth to football games to college graduation, a mother reminds her son that life is filled with possibilities and that God has a plan for him – whatever he grows up to be.
The illustrations are colorful and kid-friendly. There is even key Bible versus on each page (age development story) to emphasize that God has a plan for him as well the special bond between a mother and her son.
My Bedtime Story Bible
My Bedtime Story Bible is a book that introduces little ones to people and truths from the Bible that settle heir hearts and minds before bed. From Noah to the prodigal son, each of the 28 stories tells the day of a favorite Bible character and ends with him or her drifting off to sleep, thanking God for his faithfulness and love.
I have been reading this with my youngest, T who is 4 years old. He enjoys reading these stories together during our quiet alone times. I love hearing his feedback and reflections from these stories as well as his amazement and awe at how big God is.
One of my favorite details of My Bedtime Story Bible is that it always ends with a quick 1 sentence tuck in prayer asking God to be with your child and to grant them a good nights rest. This gives my boys comfort and ease as they fall asleep.
I am currently reading the Chronicles of Narnia series to the big boys before bed. We are on book #2, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe and they LOVE it. I have been enjoying comparing the book with God’s truth to give them something to think about before bed.

I only have My Bedtime Story Bible which I bought for my kids about two weeks ago. I love how the stories were presented for kids to understand it. From your review, I think I will like the remaining two books
