This past week the boys (and I) have been on spring break. We aren’t the type of family to sit at home often, but rather we enjoy being outside and exploring. We have spent the majority of our break exploring and playing outdoors. This really isn’t anything new for us… but the locations were new.
Hiking Camanche Reservoir – China Gulch Trail
Our family enjoys hiking and exploring new-to-us trails. We found a decent 3.5 mile hike relatively close to us… and decided to give it a go.
The hike was on an equestrian trail, which the boys enjoyed shouting poop! every few minutes as we encountered a pie along the trail.
We also saw cows up close and personal (super close for this mama bears comfort level… like 5 feet from them!) which the boys found fascinating – by mooing as loud as possible.
In order to have a successful hike, Mommy made sure to pack snacks for multiple breaks and incentives. Patience is also key when hiking with small children as their little legs often tire faster than big people. The boys did great, Daddy and Mommy did great, and we are excited to explore new trails this summer for more outdoor hiking and exploring.
Splashing in Splash Pads
We are fortunate to be a member of a gym that has an amazing outdoor facility. The warmer temperature and spring break means that the outdoor splash pad feature is on! For the boys, this means a lot of wet, wild, goofy fun is to be had!
Beach Fun at Camanche Lake
Yes, we had so much fun earlier in the week that we decided to head back to the lake with friends. This was by far the most fun the boys and I had all week. We met up with friends from church for a relaxing beach day. The children played well and enjoyed hours of games, adventure, and exploring.
I enjoyed kicking back and relaxing with my girlfriends while soaking up the sun. Yes, I have a feeling you will be seeing many pictures of my feet with my children in the background this summer. This is my happy place: outdoors, water, beach, happy.
Dining at Johnny Rockets
The boys are still young… and they are boys who act like boys at all times in all locations. Dining out with them is always an adventure that you are never sure what to expect. I surprised them by taking them out to lunch at Johnny Rockets. This was a new to us restaurant, as we had never eaten there before. They did great and enjoyed themselves. Whew. Success.
Swimming and Sunshine
Yes, more outdoor fun of enjoying the sunshine and swimming. More feet photos of me with the boys in the background. Thankful to have access to a pool so the boys can get their wiggles out as well as learn to love swimming.
Spring break is almost over, but our days of exploring new trails, trying new things, and having fun in the sun are just beginning! I love living in an area where there is so many amazing things to go, do, see and explore! I am thankful my boys have an adventurous spirit also… and we can explore, learn, and grow with each other!

Looks amazing. My spring break this week was full of napping and getting stuff done. Not exciting, but wonderful.
