So much of our confusion and pain, uncertainty and wrong decisions in life come because we do know know God. We may know about Him. We may know what others say about Him. But do we know what God says about Himself? Do we know for ourselves who He really is, how He conducts Himself in the affairs of mankind?
When we know God as He really is, we have a power in our lives, an ability to stand firm. A true understanding of God’s character leads not just to knowledge but to action.
“The people who know their God will display strength and take action.” Daniel 11:32
Knowing God enables us, as believers, to display strength in times of stress and take action when the rest of the world seems to be immobile.
My heart’s desire is to know God as I never have before. I long to have my strength and faith in Him increase. I want to learn more and live in relationship with Him.
Like any relationship, it grows and blossoms when you put forth the effort and time to get to know the other person. I find this concept relatively easy with a friend I can see… but a challenge to remember when it comes to my relationship with God. I desire to know God.
I have been following Kay Arthur’s study The Power of Knowing God. This study is great for busy people because it is only 40 minutes a week with no homework. Like all Arthur’s studies, it requires you to dig deep into the Word to achieve the power of knowing God.
This study is helping me gain a true understanding of God’s character and His ways. I am learning for myself what God says and how to apply it to my everyday life. Learning to draw near to God first so that I may confidently display His strength in my life during the most challenging circumstances.
