Anything that has to do with mess, mud, wet, noise, or dirt makes my children happy. Factor in the fact that they rarely see rain… or puddles makes the past few days of entertainment sheer bliss for them. It poured on us the other day. Which is a blessing because California is in a drought and we need rain. This crazy rain down pour gave amazing puddles for the boys to jump, stomp, toss, and even create their own version of a boot-water fight.
The boys started with an easy 1-2-3 group jump into the puddle. The bigger the splash back the better. Then they were off running around the cold-a-sac stomping, splashing, and giggling as they became completely soaked from the rain and puddle splashes.
What started out as an innocent splash kick, the youngest attempted to get his bigger brother. Only for Precious P to realize that he could totally get a bigger splash of water on his little brother. The play by play photo scene is priceless… I love how T quickly realizes he is outdone. Then he backs a way and screams. All the while a mischievous grin on his face because he loved it.
Their boots were full of water from all the splashing. They decided to get creative and fill their boot with water puddle run-off and throw it on each other. They were at this forever. The funniest thing to me was how they all decided to only use this technique with one boot. It never occurred to them to take off both boots so they would have more water to splash. Silliness.
They were a shivering (60 degrees), giggling, stinky (water run off smell) mess at the end of their wild ruckus play. They had fun and are looking forward to more rain to create more puddles.
We may not have snow days here in Sacramento… but when it rains my boys act like I did growing up when it snowed. They get giddy and full of excitement. Ready to explore and play. I even put on my rain boots and sloshed in the rain a bit. But once they started throwing dirty water at each other I stepped back to take photos. I think playing in the rain is fun… but they took it to a whole other extreme.

That’s the thing with boys, they don’t do things half-ass lol…If you lived in Ireland for a bit, you’d know all about rain as it frequently rains here. People can excited when the sun comes out in Ireland lol
