One of my new years goals for 2014 was to complete the new p90x3 fitness program WITH my husband. We set a starting date for yesterday, January 6th. It was my intention that we do this program together to reconnect with each other, do something together, and have a common activity/interest. You know how almost 11 years of marriage and 3 kids can make thing mundane and boring… it was time to shake things up a bit!
Last night, The Man comes home from work early (Yay!) and the first thing out of his mouth was:
“I think this whole working out thing is going to get in the way of our drinking!”
Face palm. Le sigh. Then we both busted out in a fit of giggles. Yes, I think it would totally get in the way of our dessert eating too! Oh the adventure of reconnecting has begun. Yay!
We did it. We completed Day 1 of p90x3 total synergistics. The workout was only 30 minutes in length. It was a great workout. The Man was sweating and got a great workout in. I am still nursing my cough so modified accordingly.
As we just started the program, we are still trying to figure out the moves and sequence of positions. We did a lot of “Huh!?” and Grunts and laughing out loud. But we did it.
I love how Tony Horton encourages you to do your best, to not expect perfection… but to challenge yourself to do your best. Not your husband’s best or your neighbors best… but YOUR! That stuck with me. Love it.
So there you have it. p90x3 Day 1. Total Synergistics in the book. Stay tuned as The Man and I embark upon reconnecting as husband and wife with our 90 day challenge of doing p90x3 together!

This is awesome, I love seeing couples workout together. If I had a hubs, I’d hope we’d workout together! Keep it up!

My husband and I will celebrate our 11th anniversary in April and like you and your husband we are looking for new ways to reconnect. It is hard after kids. It seems like we are more like Mom and Dad and less like husband and wife. He and I both workout but we are at totally different fitness levels and he has a hard time working out at home. He prefers going to the gym and I work out at home. I also run a lot but he can’t stand the pain his legs go through from running. I guess he is just a big baby. Its great that you and your husband are able to find something to do together. I am sure you will reconnect through working out together. Have a terrific Tuesday!

LOL
A similar story in our house- the exhausted adults sit down with a treat and beverage and a favorite show.
You guys are inspiring

Haha! Yes!! I honestly miss those nights of relaxation with drink in hand… BUT I do find that our relationship is closer because we are actually doing something together (vs. sitting next to each other) 🙂
