Being a boy mom x3 is always an adventure. There is something about boys… and my three… that make even the most mundane task extraordinary and exciting. Sometimes I feel like I must wear a cape and a mask just to do our weekly grocery shopping. Life is an adventure with these monkeys. Between homeschooling, training for races, working out with my husband, and just enjoying life… there is always a story to share.
As any mom of young children knows… fresh air + outdoors and nature = happy children and happy mama! We have been enjoying the sun shining (drought {sad face}) weather we have been having here in northern California this winter. It has been crazy beautiful!
We have been exploring the many amazing parks here in the Sacramento area. This gives the boys and mama an outlet to enjoy a change of scenery and get their (our) creative juices flowing.
When the parks don’t wear them out… we get more fresh air, steps, and our wiggles out by walking around our neighborhood. This helps everyone (especially mommy) during the witching hour. Plus our Daisy dog (10 years old this June) loves her mile walk around the neighborhood with her little brothers.
Homeschooling my boys is an adventure in itself. It is totally a learning curve for this ex-classroom teacher. Homeschooling is totally different than teaching in a regular classroom. Teaching my boys is so rewarding yet frustrating in its own way too. For example, they are so wiggly and full of energy (hense the park and constant wiggle breaks) that we are either doing school standing up, singing, or bouncing on the trampoline while learning our numbers and sequencing.
Training for my next marathon is a constant juggling act with family responsibilities and maintaining a healthy balance with life. Finding time to run and also time to workout with my husband is a fun challenge. We are really enjoying this 30 minute p90x3 fitness program.
On some nights, like tonight, we decide to workout before the boys go to bed… and it makes the workout all the more fun. Tonight The Man and I busted out Total Synergistics together with our three wild (needing attention from Daddy) monkeys underfoot “working out” with us the whole time. I personally love the quality time I have with my husband when we do this workout together. I also love that the boys are seeing us value health and fitness… and doing it with a smile on our face and having fun!
My life is one big adventure. There are so many silly stories, words, and actions that the monkeys share during the day. Our life is busy. Our life is ours… crazy and fun. Life with my three wild monkeys is just that… wild. This is why I run. I run for my sanity… and I run for them. I run so that I can have enough energy to keep up with them! Always running.

That is one big adventure! I have two boys and the amount of energy in the house can be so much sometimes. And that’s only 2 of them! I don’t really workout with my kids but they do like to play around and do yoga with me. And we go for lots of outdoor adventures.

I honestly couldn’t give you MORE CREDIT than I already do for being a mother of three boys and HOMESCHOOLING ALL OF THEM!!! You are so brave and you are incredible! 🙂

I don’t have three boys but I have 3 1/2 yr old twins. I’m home with them 2x during the week so we spend loads of time outside (when it’s not sub zero temps!) or anything else to burn off energy. Your reasons are some of the exact reasons I run!

In the summertime, a local running store hosted pub runs. Hubs and I would run with the kids in the stroller from the running store, through the nearby neighborhood and back to the bar that’s next door to the running store. The Little Ladies LOVE pub runs. A few times, my oldest ran with us for a mile or two. 🙂

Awww your post makes me long for another maternity leave (perhaps without the whole pregnancy and baby part though). Thank you for sharing a glimpse into your day!
