The past two weeks, I have broken out my juicer and began juicing again. It is cold and flu season and I am doing my best to keep my body (and my children) healthy by giving them the proper nutrients from juice. We have enjoyed picking out fruit and veggies to experiment juice flavors.
My personal favorite is the simple carrot, apple, kale (lately with a tsp (or inch of peeled) ginger). The taste is yummy, smooth and even the boys like it! But I need to be careful not to add too much kale (or spinach greens) or the color will end up really GREEN which deters my children and makes the juice kind of bitter.
Last week I asked on facebook what your favorite juice recipe is and I was shared the Mean Green Juice Recipe.
4 celery stalks
2 green apples
1 cucumber
1/2 lemon
1 tablespoon of ginger
I will admit, I I rarely use exact measurements when juicing… and that might have been my fault with this juice. It wasn’t my favorite… but after half way through I was able to finish it. I did get used to it. It did get better. It wasn’t so yucky that I wasn’t willing to try it again. I will. But for now, that was a failed experiment. Perhaps the celery wasn’t my favorite vegetable to juice or maybe it wasn’t stirred and mixed correctly. Who knows.
I know there are many positive effects of juicing. I do know that I am still wanting to experiment with juice recipes and flavors. I am all about a healthy – sick free – life!

I hear great things about juicing, but I think I’d rather just eat the fruit or veggie. Does the juice fill you up?

Hi! Just found your blog and saw this post. I’ve just started juicing myself. I don’t own a juicer yet, but I’m lucky in that my local grocery store sells fresh juice blends. I’ve run into a lot of issues finding juices that I actually like, I’ve had some really bad ones. Any advice on how to figure out what to try?
