I love being a mom to my three boys. I love my boys. Yet, parenting my three boys is hard. Very hard. Some days are harder than others. Or so it seems.
In my moments of despair. Loneliness. Frustration. Hurt. I tend to yell. I have read the parenting books. I am even doing my best to follow the Orange Rhino challenge. Parenting is hard. Being a GOOD parent is harder.
I am not sure if it is my expectations or patience level… but some days are harder than others.
Today was one of those days.
I have been solo parenting for the better part of this week. The boys have been longing for their daddy… as have I. They are squirrely. They are noisy. They are loud. They are rambunctious. They love. They fight. They are boys.
In these moments of frustration with… life. I need to remember to get out and enjoy it. Live life like a child. Enjoy each moment.
Venturing out to a park is the best idea I can come up with. We have spent the better part of our morning at our neighborhood park. Came home for lunch. Checked out another park in the afternoon.
Parks are fun. Noises don’t seem so loud. Running and craziness is okay. Boy behavior is welcomed. The crazier the better. Life’s struggles and troubles melt away for a short time.
We leave the park feeling refreshed, recharged and alive. Happy to tackle the day again at home. We love parks.

Outdoor play is a MUST for us or the boys are nuts – parks are a fun way to direct that energy! Hikes and long bike rides too. Anything outdoors where the kids can be wild and loud and crazy! I also can get household chores completed quickly with the promise of heading outdoors =) Yelling is hard – I hate to do it – yet sometimes I think my kids only hear me when I holler! I HATE that! It is one of the hardest things – I think – especially with wild boys!!! I love hearing from other Mom’s what they do to better parent – because I feel like it gives me more “stuff” for my parenting arsenal =)

Parks are awesome!! I think I end up taking the girls to the park 5 times a week, and this is after they play on the swingset in the back yard too – we love parks!!
