Happy Handstand Friday! Each Friday this year, I have challenged myself to take a photo documenting myself doing a handstand. I have noticed I am gaining confidence in my handstand skill, growing in strength, balance and coordination. If you have joined me each week… it is my hope you are seeing improvement also!
This week’s handstand photos are nothing special or pretty. My five year old son took the photo for my handstand. While getting ready for bed my oldest decided he was ready to participate in handstand Friday with me too.
I have noticed my boys improving their handstand skills over the course of the few weeks. My oldest is holding his handstand longer and getting an almost perpendicular position!
My two younger boys are bonking their precious heads to the ground less and are holding their body weight on their hands/shoulders.
It is super fun watching them play and then all of a sudden bust out a round of handstands and challenge each other with who can hold it the longest.
I super excited to share with you that next week, I will be doing handstands all along Newport Beach, California with two of my favorite bloggers: Fitness Cheerleader and Fit Mom in Training. We are running Ragnar So. Cal and I think I have them agreeing to play along with me!
How are you doing with your handstand challenge? Are you getting stronger? More confident? Still having fun with it?
Leave me a comment below letting me know if you joined me!

Great handstands! I can’t wait for you to help me gain handstand confidence next week – at least falling on the sand will be soft!

This is so awesome. I can’t even do a push-up (I can barely do half-plank) so I would say this is not in my hear future but it’s certainly something to aspire to! I’ve just started getting back into yoga, I *so* need to work on my upper-body strength.
Way to go!!

Very impressive. I don’t remember the last time I did one.

Wow, great handstand! I’ve never done a handstand in my life and I’m not sure I’d be able to even if I wanted to try. I wouldn’t trust myself enough not to fall over!

Wow, this is turning out to be an extremely beneficial activity for the whole family. I wish you the best on your upcoming run!

That’s great that you’re seeing strength improvement from your handstand goal. I’ve never been good at them. I’d be lucky to get it right for a moment let alone long enough for a picture. Upper body strength has never been my strong suit :-/.

Great handstands! I would need two spotters and a wall, lol.

You made my 50 by 50 list, lady! I put ‘do a handstand thanks to Running Rachel’ on my list!

I would get really good cool points if I were to do a handstand with my boys.
