Ten Years Ago

by Rachel on February 8, 2013 · 14 comments

Ten years ago today, I married my best friend.  The last ten years have brought us much change in our lives: cross country move, new jobs, children, and life’s challenging ups and downs.  Through it all we have stayed strong, committed, and continued to laugh each day with each other.

2/8/03 wedding day 2/8/03

I am thankful and blessed to be married to my best friend.  My best friend for the last 14 years.  Because of him I am a better woman, wife, mother.  Because of Him I am a better wife, woman, mother.

“A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:12

I am a firm believer, because of our faith in our God, our marriage is strong and committed.  We have a strong friendship and a strong marriage.  We are two big goof balls, not really the mushy romantic type.  We love to laugh and laugh often.  Reflecting back over the last ten years brings fond memories.  We have endured many changes in our life and marriage.  Good change.  Change is good.

marriage quote

I love the above quote in the photo above.  Hold hands every chance you can.  Be the best you can be.  Marry your best friend.  Listen.  Hug often.  Care more.  Love deeply.  Treasure always.  Be the first to say I’m sorry.  Kiss good morning.  Kiss and make-up.  Kiss just because.  Kiss goodnight.  Always be willing to compromise.  Respect one another.  Be a team player.  Remember why you fell in love.  Make a promise to each other to find time to be alone together.  Don’t forget to laugh.  Love each other.

For a recap (or older photos for a good giggle) check out these two previous anniversary posts: 9 years and 8 yearsYa know, because I am always up for a good giggle fest and laughing at myself!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! That is a wonderful accomplishment, and cheers to many more happy years. My husband and I have been married for 6 years, our best tip has to be when “he’s right, he’s right” and when “you’re right you’re right”. I have no idea what it means but it makes us laugh :)

Happy, happy anniversary! 10 years is something to shout about, especially in this day and age. Hope you had a wonderful celebration and here’s to the next 10 being abundantly, fabulously blessed by God’s amazing hand!
I’ve been married to my best friend for going on 24 years now. My best marriage advice is pray together outloud for one another and other needs. It grows a new level of closeness and intimacy.

Great post! I love the photo and quote :) My husband and I have been married 9 years (in May). We have been through the grinder a few times, but it is so important to take time to put each other first. And I completely agree: a solid relationship with God makes a world of difference :)

Laughter is one if the most important things in a marriage! As long as you can laugh with your partner, everything else will be okay!

I love that quote.

My husband and I have been married for ten years, and remembering why we fell in love is a big part of that.
