Last weekend I participated in the Nike Women’s half Marathon. It was an amazing epic weekend full of fun sights, sounds, smells, and laughs! This small town girl was in the city and was going to be joining 34,000 crazy runners on an epic adventure on the coastal trails of San Francisco.
I am sure you have heard the saying, “Go big or go home!” Well, Nike did a fantastic job promoting and pampering their women runners. Union Square was all a buzz for the race. Macy’s had a 5 story banner shouting to the roof top that the NWM2012 was happening that weekend!! NWM was BIG! It was Fun!
I am so blessed and fortunate to have been sponsored by FitFluential and Yurbuds for this race. Yes, this slow mother runner received sponsorship to run this race. Pretty neat, huh!?
I have been an avid user of yurbuds for about 2 years now, and rave about the product. I was super exited to promote, share, and represent them for this race!
Being from Missouri, and a St. Louis Cardinals fan, I really really wanted to wear my red bird shirt to San Francisco for the expo. However, my husband told me that he wanted me to return alive and in good health. I settled for sporting my Missouri State shirt. A little subliminal messaging saying that I am from Missouri and I am rooting for my Cardinals.
When I went up to the Yurbuds booth at the expo, I was greeted by smiles and great energy vibe. Seriously, if I was younger this would be a super fun job to have! Travel, athletes, and promoting a super awesome product for other fun athletes!! Win-Win!
When I introduced myself to the Yurbud staff, I was shocked to meet a fellow Missouri State alumnae. Of course, he was still a baby (graduated 6 years after I did) … but there was a kindred connection. Yurbuds and Missouri State! It made me feel a little less homesick and far from home.
The vibe and energy around Union Square was positive, uplifting, and just buzzing with excitement. There were positive motivational signs on every corner. I even saw my name written on the wall at Nike Town.
I was only in San Francisco for 24 hours. It was a whirl wind adventure. I am going to have to break up my recap for you in a few separate posts to fill you in on how amazingly fun this race was!
Stay tuned to hear about fun meet ups, the race recap, my personal review of yurbuds (and do they really stay in your ears) and what is next for me!

Sounds like an amazing weekend! I have several friends who ran the half and full and all said it was a great experience. This was the second year in a row I didn’t get in. Ugh. The lotto can be tough. You’re lucky!
It was good advice not to wear your Cardinal’s shirt. SF loves their Giants and you would get more people cheering you in something else.
Congrats! (www.runstylish.com)

That Expo-tique is crazy busy. Glad you didn’t go with the big red bird shirt. I would hate for SF folks to be FORCED to say something. They aren’t all as cool as me. 🙂

Very good blog! Do you have any helpful hints for aspiring writers?
I’m hoping to start my own site soon but I’m a little lost on everything.
Would you propose starting with a free platform like WordPress
or go for a paid option? There are so many choices out there that I’m completely overwhelmed ..
Any ideas? Many thanks!
