There are so many phenomenal books on the shelves today. This week I want to share with you a few books that the boys and I are reading together. These books are kid-friendly devotionals and or moral to the story style books. They are super cute, engaging, and thought provoking. My boys and I have enjoyed reading these books, and I wanted to share with you what we have been reading. If you are looking for books for kids along the topics of devotionals and lessons, check these books out!
Princess, Pirates and Cowboys is a super cute trilogy of stories by the Veggie Tales. The book is written at a level 1 (I can read) and my 1st grader read through the whole book (3 separate stories) very easily. Each story is a Veggie Tale character sharing about how to live like God wants us to.
This three-book collection of VeggieTales I Can Read stories provides young readers with an ideal gift they will enjoy for years to come. This collection includes: Who Wants to be a Pirate? The Fairest Town in the West and Princess Petunia’s Sweet Apple Pie
My 6 year old son was able to recall what the moral to the story was after each story read.
The stories are cute, engaging, and very child friendly! If you are a fan of Veggie Tales, you should totally pick this book up for your kiddos!
Grace for the Moment: 365 Devotionals for Kids ~ Again, focusing on the topic of doing devotions with your child, every day. This book is focusing on the concept of Grace: God’s best idea… more than we deserve… and greater than we imagine. This book helps us plant this important message of grace into the heart of our children.
There is an adult version of this book, but this book is geared towards children so that they can understand it. It is perfect for families to read together (or for an older reader to enjoy alone or read to his/her younger siblings).
Each day offers a devotion and scripture to encourage regular time with God. And because giving grace is just as important as receiving it, a “Growing in Grace” opportunity accompanies each devotion, offering practical and easy-to-do activities to help kids apply God’s grace—every day and every moment.
Change the World Before Bedtime ~ This is a fantastic picture book that younger children will really get a kick out of. It is a rhyming story about changing the world by doing little things. An ordinary kid becomes a superhero, along with his friends, by learning what is important in life.
This story takes an inspirational look into how the little things in life – a smile, a kind word, a simple deed – can help change the world in a big way. Through colorful illustrations, children will read about eating right, cleaning up the Earth by recycling and conserving, helping the sick and those less fortunate, and working in a group to make bigger miracles. Even an ordinary kid can be a superhero before bedtime!
Feeling Great with Jasper State ~ This is a fantastic book to help teach and encourage your children to love their green things. Jasper is an adventurous pup who teaches kids about the benefits of eating green veggies (like broccoli, green beans and lettuce). He helps kids eat nutritious meals and will dance and sing his way into your heart.
This book comes with a read and sing along CD that my boys enjoyed following along and singing to! This book is a great addition to our healthy living unit (for homeschool) and to encourage my relatively picky eaters (of non green things) to try new green things!
90 Devotions for Kids ~ This devotional by Focus on the Family is a great way to build Biblical principles to build your child’s faith. Each day (for 90 days) a specific topic is covered and taught. The devotion gives a creative daily challenge to keep the kids thinking about each lesson long after they have finished reading it.
There are also theme puzzles to reinforce the spiritual lesson in thought provoking ways.
My boys enjoy watching and listening to The Adventures in Odyssey programs, and this book brings home all the fantastic moral lessons and objectives home.
I know that the title says “for Kids” but in my opinion this book is really for families as the devotions, challenges, and family activities are all centered around spending time together as a family.
These five books all center around the topics of how to raise and encourage my children to grow in their faith as well as learning life lessons along the way. From focusing and learning on eating healthy (green things), to speaking kind words, and loving themselves because that is who God made them… these books are what my children and I are reading this week. These are my self-help books for little kids.
I received all of the above for free for the sole purpose to review. No compensation was received and all opinions are my own.
