How often do YOU weigh yourself?

My youngest child is almost 3 years old.  Shortly after his birth, I made it my mission to regain myself and my old (pre-baby) body.  I worked hard.  I deprived myself, fasted, and became obsessed with checking the scale.  I did end up losing weight and inches.  However, I became so obsessed that it began to take over my thoughts, actions, and life.  I lost sight of why I tried to lose weight in the first place… for me.

I eventually stopped stepping on the scale.  I began measuring my progress solely by how my body felt and how my clothes fit.  Yet, lately I haven’t been feeling too hot and my clothes are bit more snug.  #sigh

I decided to stop on the scale this weekend.  To my shock… I noticed that the number on the scale has increased.  Not shockingly though since my diet has not been up to par.  I have decided to recommit to recording my food with a food journal and being more mindful with my eating.

I do not advocate weighing yourself daily, however the occasional step on the scale can keep your goals in check.  I know that I plan on recommitting myself to not only be active but to also eat wholesome nutritional foods with portion control and mindfulness.  I hope to one day beat the battle with the scale.

I weigh myself every morning… but not for the weight number. My scale also happens to measure Body Fat, Muscle and Water % and these are the numbers I pay more attention to, especially the water %… It helps me figure out if I am not getting enough water, or getting too much salt. Also I pay more attention to the BF and M % as opposed to the weight in pounds number… I want to lose Body Fat and gain Muscle and I am happy when these numbers show that… I don’t necessarily care about the pounds, as long as these two numbers are doing what they are supposed to.

Too much. I weigh myself too much. The same as I eat too much and run too little…. I’m trying a new tactic of staying off the scales – as you say it can become all consuming – thinking about diet, food, the weigh-in. I’m trying a more laid back approach. Proof though, is in the pudding!

When I first started monitoring what I was eating, and trying to lose the 10lbs that had crept on, I was weighing myself daily. Then I lost the 10lbs and continued to weight myself daily, which began to make me crazy. I was starting to go crazy over a 2lb difference, which is stupid.

I weigh myself once a week and take my body measurements. I like to rely more on the measurements than on the scale, because I am building up more muscle.

Probably about once a week, sometimes more, sometimes less. Thing is, I really don’t need to weigh myself. I know by how I feel and how my clothes fit if I’ve gained or lost. I’m still on a mission to lose the last 5-10lbs from my 3.5yr old. Those last pounds take so much dedication and you just can’t mess up!

Loved it. Thank you for writing that. I will definitely come back to read more and recommend my neighbors about your writing.
