Checking Out The Rubbermaid LunchBlox Sandwich Kit

I admit that far too often I have been that mom.  I get carried away by seeing all these amazing lunch box ideas from pinterest.  These super cute bento lunches with perfect themes and perfect kid sized portions.  When my oldest started kindergarten, I attempted the super cute, bento style lunches.  I loved them.  I loved making them for him.  He however, was too cool for shaped cheeses and themed lunches.

My two younger boys, however, LOVE having their lunch made with a theme… bento style.  They have enjoyed having their lunch prepared by Mommy by using super cute containers.  Many of which are separated by rubber cupcake holders or even by their own container.

image I must admit, I have been enjoying using the Rubbermaid LunchBlox Sandwich Kit because it is the perfect size for little people’s lunch.  There is a larger box for their sandwich (or you can make it a cute bento style theme if you wish).  Then there are three smaller containers that are perfect for pasta, veggies, or dipping sauces.

None of the food gets mixed together.  The food stays cold from the Blue Ice pack that snaps perfectly onto the containers.

There is no added waste of disposable plastic bags, as the container is washable and reusable.  Double score!

The only negative thing I have to say about the lunchblox sandwich kit is that when all the containers are stacked together, it is too tall for my son’s lunch box.  He is still a little guy with a little lunch box.  However, this fits great in my husband’s lunch box and my larger picnic lunch box.

They have another product called the salad kit that is similar to this (greens on the bottom with the veggies and dressing separated on the top).  That is on my must-have-list the next time I head to Target!

Do you make your child’s school lunch?

If you prepare a school lunch, do you dress it up bento style or with a special theme?

disclosure: I am a Rubbermaid Ambassador and I received the sandwich kit for free to use, try and review.  No compensation was received.  All opinions are my own.

I’ve been eyeing these at the grocery store! I bought a few of the small individual containers, but haven’t bought the whole set yet. I love that the ice pack is slim & not bully! and I love that they are BPA-free.

That lunch kit looks really cool! The schools where I live do not provide lunches, so I have to pack a lunch for the kids. The school also encourages “litterless” lunches. Each week, the class that generates the least amount of waste gets a “prize” , so instead of throwing out the waste, my daughters take their garbage home…. I should look into these modular containers – they’d really be helpful!
