Happy Fitness Inspiration Friday! Each week I feature a fellow fitness fanatic from across the inter web. This week’s fitspiration is Julie from Peanut Butter Fingers.
Tell me a little bit about your fitness journey.
While I’ve always been fairly active (I was a diver and played water polo in high school), I will fully admit that my motivation for hitting the gym shifted to vanity reasons in college. I wanted to look good! After I graduated, my motivation completely changed when my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. I realized that my health should be my first priority. Fueling my body with (mostly) nutritious foods and exercising regularly makes me feel good. I love knowing that I am doing something positive for myself that may help fight off disease and sickness. The fitness-related accomplishment I am most proud of is running a sub-two hour half marathon last November at the Savannah Rock ‘n’ Roll half marathon. I’m not a naturally gifted runner, so breaking two hours was a big deal for me!
What is your fitness LOVE?
I am a circuit-loving girl! I absolutely love circuit workouts because they keep me entertained and excited about exercise. The changing moves make my workouts fly by and I love combining cardio, strength and plyometric exercises in one tough workout. My favorite circuit workout is my jump rope circut. That one makes me a sweaty beast!
What is your ONE piece of fitness advice you find helpful to keep you motivated?
I love the exercise mantra, “I’ve never regretted a workout.” Sometimes just thinking about dragging my butt out of bed at 5 a.m. is completely unappealing, but knowing how great I’ll feel for the rest of the day once my workout is over always motivates me to get my booty to the gym.
