Happy Thursday, friends! While at the gym this morning, I decided to run an impromptu mile on the treadmill for the Runners World run streak challenge (where you run a mile a day for the duration of the challenge).
I had planned on taking a pilates/yoga class at my gym to help work my core and stretch out my overworked legs from the past few days. I arrived at the gym 30 minutes before class was scheduled to start… and knew I had a few moments to spare before class.
Tying to be productive and deciding to continue with my run streak… I headed for the cardio room to run a mile on the treadmill. Only for me to realize I was wearing flip flops.
That didn’t stop me. People run bare foot all the time… right!?
I kicked off my flip flops, started the treadmill, and found a comfortable pace at around a 10:58 min/mile pace. I didn’t want to push the pace as I was barefoot… and was just covering the mile for the challenge.
I found that my running gait instantly changed to conform to the lack of foot support (no shoes). My legs felt strong and feet were springy and happy. The only drawback was I could feel the balls (near my toes) of my feet were starting to get rubbed by the constant pounding on the belt of the treadmill. Ouch!
Check out a very sweaty post mile run barefoot on the treadmill… me.

I think I can never run barefoot as it might hurt my feet and I am kinda afraid something might cut into my feet.. But, congrats to you!
