Happy Fitness Inspiration Friday! Each week I feature a friend who inspires me to live a fit and active lifestyle. This week I am excited to introduce you to my friend Cat.
Cat is the snarky fitness and healthy (and sometimes not so healthy) recipe writer at Breakfast to Bed. She is the mother to Captain Crazypants and the Peanut, and married to The Cop. It is her life’s goal to win a full glitz pageant on “Toddlers and Tiaras” but is fairly certain that isn’t possible. Instead, she’s working hard to stay healthy, maintain a 175lb weight loss, and be a good example to her family.
Cat is my FitSpiration.
Tell me a little bit about your fitness journey.
I was a skinny kid, a heavy tween, an overweight teen, and an obese young adult. I became extremely depressed and despondent about my life and my future. I eventually turned to gastric bypass, and unfortunately had so many complications from the surgery that it eventually needed revised. When the illness wasn’t going to lead to my health, I finally became determined to get healthy through learning about diet and exercise. I eventually lost and kept off 175lbs. After I had my son, I turned to running for fiscal reasons, and it turned out I loved it like I used to love pie. I hope to eventually run an ultra marathon and run at least 3 European marys.
What is your fitness LOVE?
I love running with my 3 year old son. He loves it as much as I do and it gives me MORE passion for the sport.
What is your ONE piece of fitness advice you find helpful to keep you motivated?
You NEED rest days. You have to give your body a break in order to run faster, lift more, etc.
