A family that plays together… stays together. My boys are super active. They are always on the move. I must admit, it does get tiring, but I love it! I am a busy body myself and am always moving.
I love that my boys are at the age where we can pick up and head to the trail for an adventure. It was a trying afternoon (think LONGEST.DAY.EVER!) and Mommy needed to sweat and get some fresh air. The river trail was the perfect answer for our pent up energy (and T’s lack of napping) day!
The boys did great! My 6 year old rode his scooter the whole (almost) 6 miles. My 4 year old rode his bike the whole route… even up the hills without complaining once! That is a miracle in itself! And my non-napping 2 year old passed out in the bike trailer.
My old dog, Daisy who will be 8 years old this summer, made it to the Sundial Bridge (about 2 miles from home). When we were exploring and playing she was huffing and puffing so much we decided to load her in the trailer behind T-man. Daisy was very happy to enjoy the ride, cool breeze, and not have to run with the bikes/big boys.
My happy place is outside in nature with my family. It almost always works to chase the crankies away.
What do you do to encourage chasing the crankies away when you (or your children) need a change of scenery?

I love going to the par with my 3 year old!! I get a workout, she gets to have fun and we are all exhausted afterwards! Looks like you had an awesome time!

Looks like you all had a great time! Congrats to your boys on scooter(ing)/biking all that way! 🙂

Wow! That looks like so much fun! You have high energy little boys there. For us it’s Definitely a nature hike, or a run with the kids on their bikes beside me. In the summer a splash in the pool works wonders too.

We like to go for walks on the trail with the dog and watch him swim in the river if it’s warm enough. We also like to go for bike rides. Hard not to smile when you are on a bike!

I completely agree! The wind in your face… and getting a good cardio workout in at the same time 🙂 Instant mood booster!

Great way to pack it in! Super impressed that you made it work for all three kids (and one dog!). My kids are in school these days, so I don’t have to work quite so hard anymore to get it done. It’s a nice place to be and you’ll get there before you know it!

Thanks. My boys are used to Mommy *needing* to get HER wiggles out in the afternoon to help with the witching hour. I was shocked at how LONG they lasted on the trail. I was very happy too! Long rides and hikes are in our future. My boys are growing up 🙂

Sounds like so much fun. I often kick my boys out the door and let them run off their crankies, but mine are older. ;o)
