Last week I jumped feet first into my training plan and committed to following the plan. I started off the week with a bang and did great… then life happened (kids got sick, and I chose to live in the moment vs. my training schedule).
What I did last week:
Monday: 4 mile easy run & body pump class
Tuesday: Full body strength circuit (GymGoal iPhone app)
Wednesday: 5 mile (treadmill) tempo run
Thursday: sick kids – life happened
Friday: sick kids – lived priorities – 1.75 mile walk with the boys
Saturday: sick kids – lived priorities – 2.5 mile bike ride with the boys
Sunday: Rest solo!! 4.25 mile run outdoors!!
I am still on the workout wagon, and following my training plan. However, when life calls and my children want need me to spend time with them… I choose life. I choose my children over my “training plan”. I can always squeeze in fitness later in the day or another day. The opportunity to squeeze my children and make memories are the here and now.
Especially since the two youngest boys are not feeling well and are in full on I need Mommy All.The.Time mode. There will be lots of snuggling, squeezing, and living in the moment… learning to be flexible and living in each moment.
My training plan for this week:
Monday: 5 mile easy run
Tuesday: Cross Train – ZUMBA!
Wednesday: 5 mile speed work (treadmill)
Thursday: 4 mile easy run
Friday: Body Pump Group Class
Saturday: 8 mile long slow run
Sunday: Rest
What do you do when life throws you curve balls to your plan?
When life happens, how do you adjust your training plan?
