Happy Motivation Monday! The past few days my motivation for fitness is on high alert. I have a plan and am putting it in place. I am focused and am enjoying my runs.
This past weekend I watched the Ford Ironman and was a blubbering mess!! Yes, I was crying as I was watching the inspirational stories of the athletes and their determination to cross the finish line. There were athletes who had lost limbs, battling cancer, and celebrated weight loss success. As I was watching their inspiration cross the finish line (and some not crossing… but they ATTEMPTED the race)… I thought to myself, why am I not pushing myself to that degree? I can totally do something like that. Now, I am not saying that I will be running an Ironman any time soon… but a full marathon is totally in the realm of possibility for 2012.
Something to think about.
Keeping up with the motivation theme, I wanted to share this photo I found from pinterest: Just Run. People ask why I run. I say, “If you have to ask, you will never understand.” It is something only those select few know. Those who put themselves through pain, but deep down know how good it feels.
I can totally relate to this quote/image!! For me, the holiday stressful season is here and I need fresh air, sunshing and running more NOW than ever before. Otherwise I tend to get in an ugly funk that is hard to break out of. In order to combat that funk I am doing my darndest to stick to a training plan… and run as often as possible.
My training plan from last week:
Monday: Rest/XT (I ran a quick 2 miles and NTC upper body strength circuit)
Tuesday: Easy 8 Mile Run (9:49 pace)
Wednesday: Rest/XT (NTC strength circuit)
Thursday: 4 miles easy (ran while pushing the double jogger) & 1.6 mile recovery walk
Friday: Rest/XT (NTC strength circuit)
Saturday: 5 mile Tempo Run (1 mile warm; 3 miles @9:16; 1 mile cool)
Sunday: 4 miles easy while pushing double jogger & C riding his bike
My training plan for this week:
Monday: 5 mile speed workout (warm; 2×1600 in 8:44 w/800 jogs; cool)
Tuesday: Easy 5 Mile Run (10:52)
Wednesday: Rest/XT (NTC strength circuit)
Thursday: Easy 8 mile long run (10:52)
Friday: Rest/XT (NTC strength circuit)
Saturday: Easy 4 mile run (10:52)
Sunday: Rest/XT (NTC strenth circuit)
What is on your fitness agenda for the week?

Rachel,
I just came across your site tonight via Stumbleupon… very inspiring site!
During the Summers I generally run a few times per week; then when the weather cools, so does my running habit. 🙁
I’m looking for motivation and knowledge about how to become a dedicated year-round runner. I mean, I know it is up to me alone… but, a encouragement and tips are always beneficial.
Very nice site — one I will certainly be returning to! 🙂
