Growing up, TheMan and I had many family traditions during the holidays and seasons. After reading the book, Creative Family Traditions, I realized how important it is to keep these fun traditions!! We both have discussed that we would like to continue our treasured memories with our own little family.
One of the traditions we have established is each fall, October, we pick a pumpkin and carve it together. Or rather, TheMan and the boys draw a face and Daddy carves it with little hands, eyes and bodies near him.
My FOUR favorite Men:
Step 1: Cut the top off and pick out the slimy insides – make sure to save the seeds!
Peyton lost interest really quick, but Tristen was eager to get his hands dirty.
Tristen thought this was such a SUPER fun thing to do! Outdoors, with my big brothers AND Daddy! FUN!
Now time for Daddy to get serious and concentrate on carving the pumpkin. Be VERY careful!
The finished product with a VERY proud Calvin!
Tristen was banned indoors (cool evening and he was getting into everything) – but he thought it was a hoot to see Calvin just inches from him.
Peyton’s side of the pumpkin. He couldn’t decide which face to use… so he decided to use the WHOLE case of ‘potato head style pieces for the pumpkin’.
Of course, Mommy roasted the pumpkin seeds after the excitement was over.
Love fall!

Great tradition! It’s been a while since I’ve actually carved a pumpkin. Our tradition is to go to a pumpkin patch.
