I know most “Works For Me” Wednesday posts are centered around parenting or homemaking topics. Heck, I tend to gravitate towards those topics myself.
However, today I wanted to share what works for me to stay motivated and challenged with my workouts.
For my birthday/Mother’s Day this year I recieved an iPod Nano (Yes, I know I am so behind the times).
With my ipod I got the Nike+ sport kit.
Before my run(s) I just plug in what I plan on doing – a goal distance, time, calorie burn… or just a random run. While on my run I can get instant feedback on my distance, pace, min/mile pace, as well as how far to go for my goal.
Since using my new gaget (the Nike+) I have met and beaten my PR running times … and continue to get stronger, faster… and run further. I am motivated and find challenges within myself.
This works for me… and if you are needing that extra push with your running goals… I know that this small investment will work for you too! 🙂

I got an iPod for Mother's Day and I love to use it on the treadmill. It also has a step-counter on it, although I keep forgetting to turn it on, LOL!
Good luck with your exercising. Trust me, you are smart to do it now while you're young. It isn't so easy at my age (54) when you've been somewhat sedentary all your life. But I'm trying, and the iPod helps. (I think mine is a Nano, too. I don't care if it is old-fashioned, I like it.)

Great post! Exercise makes mothering, family, and life better so it's a great subject! I don't have the nike kit but I have a Garmin Forerunner 305 that sounds like it does the same thing and it has made a HUGE difference in how motivated I am to exercise. And when I exercise I'm a much better, happier person.
